We are evaluating the macro-invertebrate populations on the stream between the Dearborn and Two Medicine Rivers along the Rocky Mountain Front. Does anyone have data they could share with us? Rai Hahn and Triston Isakson, Fairfield High School.

ReplyDeleteI would recommend the CWAC database wia MTDEQ. An interested person can obtain all monitoring reports from that database on specific waterbodies. I believe Kathryn can help you navigate the website if you need a hand.
Good luck

Thanks Sean, we will investigate!
ReplyDeleteRai,
ReplyDeleteSean (no surprise) is right! the CWAIC database is great!
According to the MTDEQ, our local Clean Water Act agency, Dearborne is considered impaired for temperature. Two Medicine Rivers (as of 2008) is not listed as impaired, but this could be due to lack of monitoring.
Here is all of the relevant info from the CWAIC site.

Dearborn and Two Medicine both have areas marked as having "insufficient information." How cool would it be to work with DEQ to help fill that gap! Let me know if you want to go that direction and I can put you in contact with a few folks. :)

Type in the waterbody's name e.g. "dearborn" and click on the "assessment record" link. This will prompt you to download the excel file.
